Middle school sports are more competitive than ever.

Nobody knows this better than local sports performance expert Jeff Weber, who has been director at OAK Athletic Development since 2010.

"Working along-side middle-school athletes nearly every day for the past 10 years I am more confident than ever in saying that the absolute need for a structured and progressive non-sport training program is essential for the short and long-term success of these athletes. With the proliferation of annual travel teams and young athletes specializing at younger and younger ages we so often see athletes who have tremendous sport skill, spending hours upon hours with their sport coaches, yet hardly an ounce of physical fitness.

This is not good anyway you spin it. Sure we want our young athletes to spend time developing the specifics of their sports, but when they are spending 10 hours a week throwing pitches yet still can’t do five quality pushups, we have a serious problem."

Throughout June and July Weber is holding Summer Speed and Strength Camps in Bourbonnais to share his revolutionary techniques to develop strength, power, speed and agility that will not only help make middle school athletes better now, but will also help them reach their true athletic potential.
