There are several popular diets that have some worth: Paleo, plant-based, low carb, intermittent fasting, carb back-loading, amongst others. I am often asked what diet I prefer and recommend. My answer depends on the individual just like it does when I am writing a training program. I do not believe there is an absolute single best diet for every single person for now and forever.

Everyone's situation is different and, there is rich diversity in people:

• Body type
• Dietary preference
• Budget
• Nutrition knowledge
• Time

Body Composition and Nutrition Coaching

The truth about diets is that good ones actually have more in common with each other than they have differences.  Any worthy diet should provide or prioritize:

1) Food quality is extremely important, this means eating whole, minimally processed, nutrient dense foods most of the time will take you the furthest.

2) Eliminate nutrient deficiencies. Give your body what it needs in the amounts it needs and it will thank you.

3) Helps to control appetite and food intake.  A nutritious meal should leave you feeling comfortable and satisfied, not bloated yet still hungry.

So the best diet is the one that's best for you. Whatever you chose follow the common thread. It doesn't have to be complicated, in fact, it should be quite simple. Find an on-going diet plan that you can adopt as a life-style.  See that it is high in natural and nutrient dense foods, which in turn provide you with the essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients needed, and keeps you full enough not to overeat or leaves you hungry all of the time.

Two years ago I dropped from 12% body fat to 7% body fat just by following these three principles of a sound diet. This isn't to say look at me, it's to say this is a highly effective and user friendly way to do things. I never counted a calorie, weighed my food or stressed about a less than perfect meal. I picked a method that I was confident I could adhere to and went to work. Be realistic with yourself. Remember there is usually always a difference between what you could do and what you are actually willing to do. Keep It Simple Stupid.
